The Buffalo Museum of Science presents the "Make It Up" Summer Experience, now open through the summer months.

Guests will use their own curiosity, and ingenuity, to dream up and construct creations from the museum's supply of cardboard, tape, scissors, light and pegboards. The experience features engaging activities for all ages, including spaces to "Build It Up," "Link It Up," "Tear It Up" and "Light It Up!"

All activities associated with "Make It Up" are included with general museum admission and free for Buffalo Museum of Science members.

In the "Build It Up" space, visitors are immersed in a supply of materials and guides for linking various supplies. Staff has posted guides to creating flanges, angled tubes, fasteners, curves and slot joints, and facilitators will encourage curious minds to imagine and construct their own design.

The "Tear It Up" experience provides an inside look at the inner workings of everyday products. Inductors, capacitors, transformers and integrated circuits are available to take apart and explore.

The "Light It Up" board gives visitors a chance to help the museum finish its space scene. Staffers have started with an astronaut made from layered pieces of paper. Guests will help them finish the scene, cutting paper and laying the sheets on top of one another to create different shades of value.

In "Link It Up," visitors use a supply of dowels, foam tubes and string to construct geo-boards and learn about area and perimeter.

In addition to "Make It Up," the Buffalo Museum of Science announced M&T Bank as the presenting sponsor of the "Stay Cool" science summer promotion. Visitors may enjoy the museum with 50 percent off general admission after noon on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays through Aug. 25.

Admission to the Buffalo Museum of Science is $11 for adults ages 18-61, $9 for seniors ages 62 and up, $9 for military and students, $8 for children ages 2-17, free for children under the age of 2 and free for museum members.
