Cullen Robert Ball of Lewiston has been chosen to receive the 2016 William Morehouse Scholarship.

Ball was one of 18 students to be awarded the scholarship. He is enrolled at Alfred University studying building trades and aspires to own his own company.

The William Morehouse Scholarship awards money to qualified students in New York state pursuing a one-, two- or four-year college program in residential construction or an industry-related field.

The New York State Builders Association Research & Education Foundation sponsors the scholarship program with matching funds provided by New York state local homebuilder associations or individual sponsors.

The Niagara County Builders Association, specifically, has matched the scholarship fund for Cullen.

The NCBA represents local home building and remodeling contractors in communities throughout Niagara County and in northern Erie County.

Its network of members includes contractors, suppliers, designers, engineers, subcontractors and other related businesses. These members work to support statewide legislation that benefits the industry.
