The Lewiston Council on the Arts brings back Lewiston's own 1960s-era rock musicians and friends for the 12th annual "Summer of '69" musical weekend.

Starting Thursday, July 14, there will be a pre-"Summer of '69" party/fundraiser at 6 p.m. inside the Stone House, 755 Center St., Lewiston. This is a ticketed event.

At 6 p.m. Friday, July 15, it's the main event: The "Summer of '69" concert will be held at the Hennepin Park Gazebo at Center and South Fourth streets. The event features favorites from the '60s, '70s and '80s performed by County Orphanage, the Invaders and the Lewiston All Stars.

Students from Lewiston Music will open the show and play classic rock selections as a tribute to the music of the '60s. Special guest and Grammy Award-winner Gary Baker will perform some of his No. 1 hit songs. He has worked with performers the Backstreet Boys, Alabama, Lone Star and All-4-One. This year, Baker will team up with former bandmates.

Ties to Lewiston are so strong that some musicians and audience members come from all over the U.S. to enjoy this event. The "Summer of '69" concert is free and open to all thanks to the sponsorship of Sevenson Environmental Services and Modern Corporation.
