Roadway expected to be re-opened prior to the July 4 weekend

The Erie County Department of Environment and Planning division of sewerage management has announced William Street in the Town of Lancaster will be closed between Transit Road and Penora Street starting on Tuesday. The road is expected to be re-opened Friday evening.

This road closure is necessary to facilitate the safe installation of a new sewer across the roadway east of the Flix Theaters driveway on William Street. A signed detour will be in place.

While no thru traffic will be allowed, the road will be accessible from Penora Street for local residents who need to access their homes. Furthermore, local businesses with driveways on William Street will be accessible from Transit Road.

This work is part of the Aurora North Pumping Station Elimination Project, a $7.8 million project that began last fall in Erie County Sewer District No. 4 and upgrades the sanitary sewer system from Borden Road in Cheektowaga to Aurora Street in Lancaster.
