Willy Legrand, Ph.D., a professor of hospitality management at the International University of Applied Sciences in Bad Honnef, Germany, will keynote an April 26 event at Niagara University that is focused on climate adaptive innovations for the international hospital industry.

Legrand's address is part of the NU College of Hospitality and Tourism Management's Visiting Speaker Series. The free event begins at 5:30 p.m. in St. Vincent's Hall (Room 407). A networking reception in the Statler Dining Room of St. Vincent's Hall will follow.

Legrand will present some of the most significant innovations in sustainability management, while also elaborating on the various and preferred approaches by hotel chains and independent hoteliers to scale up climate adaptive innovations.

Prior to becoming a faculty member in the IUBH School of Business and Management, Legrand worked for several years in the hospitality industries in Canada and Germany. He holds undergraduate and graduate courses on sustainable development, facilities management and marketing in Germany, and is also a visiting professor at reputable universities in Singapore, Dubai, France, Peru and the U.S.

He was the recipient of the Emerald Literati Network Award for Excellence in 2015 for his paper, "A survey of social entrepreneurial community-based hospitality and tourism initiatives in developing economies."

Along with a doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University in the U.K., Legrand possesses an MBA from the Bradford University School of Management and undergraduate degrees in geography and hospitality management.

Niagara University offers a dual degree program in hospitality management through a partnership with the International University of Applied Sciences. Both institutions are founding members of Hotels Schools of Distinction, formerly the Leading Hotel Schools of the World.
