For the first time in 43 years, Ransomville Speedway will be under new ownership when the gates open up on Friday, May 6, for its 59th year of operation.

Ransomville Speedway was purchased by the Atwal family during the past off-season. The speedway is already undergoing a new transformation with a new office and a new merchandise area under construction, which will be located next to the entrance to the grandstands. The Atwals have also started an expansion of the VIP towers.

Ransomville Speedway General Manager Tana Robinson announced credit cards will accepted at the grandstand and the pit entrances for the 2016 season as well as at the merchandise stand.

Ransomville Speedway will be represented at the Syracuse-based Motorsports Expo 2016 at the New York State Fairgrounds this weekend. Stop by and see staffers and pick up a 2016 schedule. They will be available to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming season.

Ransomville Speedway has already announced several sponsors for the 2016 season. Try-it Distributing of Lancaster has been a sponsor at the Big R for more than three decades.

"They are one of our biggest supporters," Robinson said. "Budweiser, Labatt's, Yuengling and Jack Daniels Coolers will be featured in our Ransomville Volunteer Fireman's beer booth."

Budweiser will co-sponsor the May 30 Super DIRTcar 358 Modified 75-lap Memorial Day special event. Labatt's will co-sponsor the Sept. 2 50-lap Krown Undercoating 358 Modified 50 lap finale.

Other sponsors include:

•Moley Magnetics, headquartered in Lockport, is returning for its second season at Ransomville Speedway. Moley Magnetics will co-sponsor the racing program on Friday, July 8.

•Performance Manufacturing Inc., located in Middleport, services many of the go-kart competitors that race at Ransomville Speedway on Thursday nights.

•Jeffery Machine, located in Lockport, is owned and operated by Shawn Jeffery. The Jeffery family has been involved with racing at Ransomville Speedway for close to four decades. Jeffery also owns and operates the New York Dirt Kart Series.

Ransomville Speedway will host a NYDKS Series on Saturday, July 16. Jeffery Machine will sponsor a Friday night at the races plus a go-kart division on Thursday nights.

In addition, PMI and Jeffery Machine will each co-sponsor the Big R racing program on July 15.
