For some time, the Traffic Safety Advisory Board has been submitting grants to obtain a traffic speed monitor. This would assist drivers to become more aware of their speed by checking their speedometers more often. It would also help them avoid going too fast, especially in populated areas, and also avoid costly tickets.

Special thanks goes to former supervisor Mary Cooke for her efforts and assistance from Councilman Ray Billica.

Here's hoping everyone's winter driving skills have had a good test, and perhaps now is a good time to think about taking a defensive driving course just to brush up. Like many of us awaiting spring, which has it's concerns also, remember to "be seen" when walking and bicycle riding.

The Traffic Safety Advisory Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall conference room and is open to anyone with traffic safety concerns.
