Glenn Colton said that he started his career as a musician "with an idea in 1985." He became a full time performer in 1993, taking his show to libraries, elementary schools, and town-sponsored concert series. In 2012, Colton retired from his performing career.

Colton got a job at Transitowne, selling cars. He has since returned to performing, on a part-time basis.

Colton, pictured, writes much of his own material.

"I wrote 80 to 85 percent of the songs for today's show," Colton said of his performance at Huth Road Elementary School on Jan. 27.

Colton's show is interactive and entertaining, while "celebrating healthy choices," Colton said. "Always tell the truth. It's not always easy but it's always the right thing to do."

"There are tall ships and there are small ships, but the best of all are friendships," he said.

Colton said that, in his career, he has performed more than 3,000 shows. He said he achieved three of the four goals that he set for himself as a full-time performer. "I had a full-time performing career in a concert-type setting, and I promoted original music." The only goal that he did not achieve was to have a road crew, which would set up and tear down the equipment needed for his shows.

"I am happy to be back," Colton said.
