While Eric Wood was traveling back from his first Pro Bowl in Hawaii, The Eric Wood Foundation was hard at work in Buffalo.
Tuesday afternoon, The Eric Wood Foundation delivered four Xbox Ones to Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Microsoft donated the gaming devices to The Eric Wood Foundation to help support its mission of providing daily encouragement and life-changing experiences for seriously ill, special needs and physically challenged children throughout Buffalo.
Executive board members delivered the Xbox Ones in Wood's place (pictured).
The devices will be used by patients to make their hospital stays just a little bit better. The average length of stay at Roswell Park Cancer Institute is 8.6 days, so the devices are a welcomed distraction.
This donation is a small part of the growing relationship with Roswell Park. Earlier this winter, The Eric Wood Foundation hosted patients at "Operation Big Santa." The holiday program surprised attendees with a shopping trip to Target with Wood and his teammates.
Wood's dedication to the Buffalo area community has been recognized by his team and teammates. He was voted by his teammates to represent the franchise as its Byron "Whizzer" White Award nominee. The Byron "Whizzer" White Award recognizes players who go above and beyond to perform community service in their team cities and hometowns. In addition, the Bills named Wood as their Man of the Year and nominee for the NFL's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.
