HAL explores NCSO history

The Historical Association of Lewiston will present its January program, "The History of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 915 Oneida St.

Christopher Carlin, an author and retired NCSO officer, will present the history of the sheriff and how the office evolved through the years.

Carlin was the chief deputy of uniformed operations and has more than 26 years of law enforcement experience. From 2000-04, he served as superintendent for the Niagara Falls Police Department. Carlin retired from the NCSO in 2008 and accepted a position with the U.S. Department of Labor/OSHA as an investigator. Today, he is the regional supervisory investigator, currently responsible for New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

This event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.
