Members of the Grand Island Fire Co. and the fire company's ladies auxiliary visited Elderwood at Grand Island to wish Elsie Fleischmann a happy 100th birthday. Fleischmann turned 100 Dec. 31.

Then Town Supervisor Mary Cooke presented Fleischmann with a town proclamation Dec. 29 that noted the centenarian was a charter member of the GIFC ladies auxiliary. She is also on the roster of the fire company, said current ladies auxiliary president Nicole Butcher. Fleischmann's late husband, Elmer, was a charter member of the GIFC as well.

Fleischmann is the only remaining charter member of the ladies auxiliary. She is pictured with Dorothy Lovlee, another ladies auxiliary member and resident of Elderwood, and with current members of the ladies auxiliary.

Members of the GI Fire Co. and ladies auxiliary gather around Elsie Fleischmann last Wednesday at Elderwood to celebrate her 100th birthday. She was born Dec. 31, 1915.
