A Tuscarora Heroes Remembrance will be held on the 202nd anniversary of the War of 1812 British attack on Lewiston at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Tuscarora Heroes Monument at Portage Road and Center Street in Lewiston.

About a dozen local citizens were killed in the early morning attack; however, dozens more were saved when the local Tuscarora Nation intervened and held off the British troops long enough for local residents to escape down Ridge Road.

After a brief ceremony and presentation, everyone is welcomed to join a Dutch-treat fellowship breakfast at Syros Restaurant, located down the street at Portage and Cayuga Street.
