The gift of giving is in the air at the Niagara-Wheatfield Senior High School. Students, faculty and staff are participating in "Warmth of Veterans" that serves the Homeless Veterans Center of WNY. Donations of children's coats will be presented to "Coats for Kids" in conjunction with Capitol Cleaners.

Al Pogel, faculty member at Niagara-Wheatfield, said this event is a tradition and a kickoff to several charitable events planned in coming weeks at the school.

"The students understand the plight of the homeless veterans in the community and that of the poverty of many children in the area," he said.

Kennedy Heaton and Sabrina Seefeldt, who are both participating in the coat drive, expressed how good it felt to be part of such an important event in their community.
