David Francis Wolf, 72, of Danbury, Connecticut, succumbed peacefully to multiple myeloma surrounded by his friends and family on Nov. 6, 2015, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born Jan. 25, 1943, in Buffalo to Francis and Rowena Wolf, now deceased.

David was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. His quirky sense of humor put people at ease and he was always quick with a joke. David was always interested in people and would have liked to be a considered a loyal, friendly and considerate person. When he was healthy, David reveled in sports, playing golf, tennis and racquetball. Dave was always up for a bet with his pals. He enjoyed traveling with his bride. He was fortunate to visit six of the seven continents and all 50 United States. He loved conversations, long walks, and good books and was particularly fond of any show on The History Channel. Dave took pride in his service as an accomplished aviator in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1962-68 during the Vietnam War. Not only a proud veteran, Dave enjoyed a successful career with Eastern Airlines as a co-pilot until the late 1980s. Shortly after, David started a painting company to provide for his family. He showed strength, courage and a sense of humor right up until his last days.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bernadette (Cruickshank); daughter Lisa (Ross) Martin; son Matthew (Dawn) Wolf; and known as "Bop-Bop" to six loving grandchildren: Arielle, Matthew, Hayleigh, Cash, Chloe and Charlotte; as well as niece, Judy Borschel and nephew, Jack Holnbeck.

Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Donna (John) Holnbeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers, Florida. Burial followed at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota.
