Judith F. (Jehrio) Ponzi, of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. She was 74.

She was born in Buffalo, on Aug. 10, 1941, a daughter of the late Francis and Jean (Lukasik) Jehrio.

She graduated from North Tonawanda High School and then worked in the insurance industry for many years.

Ponzi was involved in several Town of Wheatfield committees, including organizing the town picnic and founding the farmers' market; she was a member of the Wheatfield Republican Club, served as a Girl Scout leader, was involved with the Buffalo Skating Club and served as a Buffalo Ambassador, bringing skating competitions to Western New York. She was a member of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) and was a longtime parishioner of St. Christopher's Church in Tonawanda, but her greatest joy in her life was her time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Ponzi is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard A. Ponzi; and two daughters: Susan L. (Alan) Zamorski and Sharon M. (William) Jennings. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jillian and Aidan Zamorski and Benjamin and Anna Jennings, three siblings: Francis "Butch" Jehrio, Kathleen "Bonnie" Jehrio and Peter Jehrio; and one niece and four nephews.

Family and friends gathered at the Lane Funeral Home Inc. in Niagara Falls on Sept. 16, and funeral services were held Sept. 17 at St. Christopher Church in Tonawanda. Her burial took place at the Riverdale Cemetery in the Town of Lewiston.
