The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team signed defenseman Cody Franson to a two-year contract.
Franson (age 28, 6'5", 213 pounds) split the 2014-15 season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators, setting career-high totals in points (36) and assists (29) in 78 games during his sixth NHL season. It marked the second consecutive season in which he topped his best career totals in those categories.
In 400 regular-season games with the Predators and Maple Leafs, the British Columbia native has recorded 169 points (35 goals, 134 assists) and 134 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 28 NHL playoff games, totaling 15 points (4/11) and two penalty minutes in the postseason.
