Buffalo Game Space to host launch party for locally developed video game

BGS celebrates the release of local studio Neon Deity's game "Shütshimi"

After over two years of development, a team of three local developers (Anthony Swinnich, Garrett Varrin and Wayne Kubiak) is ready to launch their first major title. "Shütshimi: Seriously Swole" began a as a small weekend project, but eventually grew into a major hit that attracted the attention of video game publisher Choice Publishing. Now, at the end of development, "Shütshimi" is ready to launch today on PlayStation 4,PS Vita and Steam.

In celebration of their achievement, Buffalo Game Space will host a launch party at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. The event will be free and open to the public.

"Anthony, Garrett and Wayne have been an integral part of our organization since we began, and we think the least we can do is have a party to celebrate their game's official launch," BGS board member John Futscher said. "The success of this team just goes to show that you don't have to be in NYC or LA in order to bring a game studio to life and release something fantastic; you can do it all right here."

"Shütshimi" is a randomized shoot-em-up about a muscle-bound fish with memory problems defending the seven seas. Armed with a trusty bullet-morphing shotgun, defeat or navigate through waves of enemies and collect power-ups as you battle your way through each of the game's bosses. But there's a catch (there's always a catch): You've been cursed with an incredibly short attention span. Combat waves and upgrade cycles only last 10 seconds apiece, so you'd better act fast!
