The new sign in front of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 2587 Baseline Road, was dedicated to the memory of Claire and Ralph Brown and blessed immediately after the 9 a.m. service Aug. 2. The previous sign, which was recently replaced, was given to the church in 1990 by Ralph Brown in memory of his late wife Claire, who died in 1986. Ralph Brown died in 2003.

"When the children of the Browns found out that we were looking at replacing the 1990 sign, they provided significant financial support for our new sign," said the Rev. Earle King of St. Martin's.

According to Donna James, daughter of the Browns, "We want to thank that congregation for allowing us to continue supporting this sign as a memorial to our parents."

The Browns moved to Grand Island in 1957 and joined St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church.
