Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, continues to advocate for pets in New York, and helped pass legislation that would allow restaurant owners to permit dogs to join their owners at outdoor dining areas.

"Restaurant owners should have the choice to allow dog owners to bring their furry friends with them to outdoor dining areas," said Ceretto, who has two dogs. "I would much rather see dogs accompany their owners at an outdoor eating area than be locked in a hot car for a few hours."

Assembly Bill 5956C allows restaurants the option to permit dogs accompanying their owners in outdoor dining areas without the risk of suspension or forfeiture of a license to operate.

"I'm confident that this legislation will promote our restaurant industry in New York state, as restaurant owners will now have the choice to accommodate dog owners while maintaining a safe and sanitary dining environment," Ceretto said.
