In recognition of Lions Club International, a worldwide week of service, the Lewiston Community Lions sponsored students from the "Take me out to the Bills Game" organization Saturday for a fun afternoon of bowling, pizza and pop at the Lewiston Event Center.

The organization consists of special needs students from Niagara Falls High School and Starpoint High School. Founder Mike Esposito said he was excited for the kids to be able to socialize and have fun with each other outside of their regular school day.

Additionally, "Seeing the smiles on their faces and hearing their laughter reinforces to me what the Lions are all about, and how we can make a difference," Lion Carissa Cecconi said. At the age of 20, Cecconi recently became the youngest person to be inducted into the Lewiston Lions.

The service club is celebrating six years of service to the Town and Village of Lewiston and its surrounding community. More information about becoming a Lewiston Community Lion can be found on Facebook (Lewiston Lions), Twitter (@LewistonLions) and www.lewistoncommunitylionsclub-ny.org.

The Lewiston Community Lions welcomed their youngest member April 7 at a dinner meeting. Lion William Ross, president of the Town of Wheatfield Lions Club, inducted Carissa Cecconi. She is a 2012 Lewiston-Porter graduate who lives in the Village of Lewiston. Carissa was sponsored by her mother, Regina, who is president of the Lewiston Community Lions.
