Beginning Monday, June 1, the North Tonawanda History Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday (except July 3 to July 6) through Aug. 31. It will also be open Sunday, July 19, the first day of Canal Fest. The rest of the year, the history museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The History Museum has 10,800 square feet of exhibits on the Erie Canal-Niagara River heritage, which led to the lumber-industrial heritage and rich immigrant heritage. Its exhibits and publications cover the 19th and 20th centuries, but it is gathering the history of the 21st century for future generations. Research assistance and a 500-square-foot reference library are available by pre-arranged appointments.
