More than 4,500 AT&T employees nationwide received the President's Volunteer Service Award, including four locally

AT&T is proud to recognize Benjamin Roberts, Lori Valenti, Daniel O'Brien and Michael Huber of Western New York, along with the 4,512 employees nationwide, who are being honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award for giving their time to better the communities around them.

The PVSA, the nation's premier volunteer awards program, gives U.S. presidential recognition to individuals who have demonstrated commitment to volunteerism, and encourages others to live a life of service. AT&T employees in Western New York logged a minimum of 100 hours in service to others last year, with some employees volunteering more than 500 hours to receive the Gold Award.

"I'm incredibly proud to see hundreds of employees receive recognition for their volunteer service," said Marissa Shorenstein, New York president, AT&T. "We would like to congratulate our PVSA recipients and thank them for their commitment to improving the communities where they live and work."

Employees participated in activities ranging from mentoring students online in science and math, cleaning up local parks, or traveling overseas to meet the needs of people in a country far away.

Over time, these moments of giving can add up to millions of service hours. AT&T employees and retirees have volunteered more than 5.6 million hours in 2014 alone.

PVSA is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service and is administered by Points of Light.

To be eligible to receive the award, AT&T submits a record of employees' annual volunteer service hours to be verified and considered eligible for the award.

The four area employees volunteered more than 1,245 hours combined in 2014.
