Session set for Tuesday, April 14

The New York State Department of Transportation will host a community open house Tuesday, April 14, to discuss the New York Gateway Connections improvement project to the U.S. Peace Bridge Plaza in the City of Buffalo.

The open house will run from 3 until 7:30 p.m. at Madonna Hall at D'Youville College, located at 334 Porter Ave. Department and contractor personnel will be present to answer questions and provide information about the ongoing project, including the construction schedule and duration of anticipated ramp and roadway closures. Visual displays of the detours that will be used during road and ramp closures will be available.

This $56.2 million project will provide direct access between the U.S. Peace Bridge Plaza and Interstate 190, remove international traffic from city streets, and remove Baird Drive from Front Park. The bridge carrying Porter Avenue over Interstate 190 and the CSX Railroad also will be replaced as a part of this project.

The project was awarded to Union Concrete Construction Corp. of West Seneca in fall 2014. It is scheduled to be completed in summer 2017.

For further information, or to request a sign language interpreter or assistive listening system, contact Craig Mozrall, special projects manager, at 716-847-3033, or write to the New York State Department of Transportation, 100 Seneca St., Buffalo, NY 14203, and reference Contract Number D262652. A Spanish language interpreter will be present at the open house.
