More than 275 local high school students will convene at Niagara University tomorrow to participate in workshops on business leadership, interpersonal skills, dining etiquette and social media propriety.

Workshops will be held from 10 a.m.-12:25 p.m. at the following on-campus locations:

  • Social media - Dunleavy Hall, Room 127
  • Business leadership - St. Vincent's Hall, Room 407
  • Dining etiquette - St. Vincent's Hall, Rooms 405-406

The nine participating high schools are members of the National Academy Foundation, an organization that develops industry-focused academic curricula and work-based experiential learning opportunities to prepare young people for college and career success.

Each of the high schools that will be on campus - Barker, Clarence, Depew, Hamburg, Lake Shore, Lewiston-Porter, North Tonawanda, Orchard Park and West Seneca - maintains an NAF Academy of Finance. The academies connect students with professionals working in the areas of financial services and personal finance, and offer courses on banking and credit, financial planning, global finance, securities, insurance, accounting and economics.

The day will culminate with a luncheon that allows students, dressed in business casual attire, to practice the soft skills learned during the workshops.

This marks the third time Niagara University has held the daylong program.
