The First Niagara Foundation and the Buffalo Sabres teamed up with Junior Achievement of Western New York to teach local students about the responsibilities of and economic opportunities available in Western New York. Sabres players Anders Lindback and Chad Johnson spoke to second-grade students at Southside Elementary Monday.

Throughout the month of February, First Niagara and the Sabres made a donation for every save the team made to Junior Achievement. In total, the two organizations are providing $10,000 for the Junior Achievement programs to empower local young people to own their economic success.

"First Niagara is proud to support Junior Achievement and their efforts to deliver relevant and fun learning opportunities around financial literacy to students in so many classrooms in our community" said Elizabeth Gurney, executive director of the First Niagara Foundation. "In addition to our financial support, over 40 first Niagara team members serve as volunteer teachers throughout the year in schools across the county."
