Sabres recall defensemen McCabe, Pysyk

The Buffalo Sabres recalled defensemen Jake McCabe and Mark Pysyk from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

McCabe (age 21, 6'0", 195 pounds) joins the Sabres for his second career recall and his first recall of the 2014-15 season. In 49 games with Rochester this season, McCabe has led all AHL rookie defensemen with 25 points (4 goals, 21 assists), including 10 in his past 11 games.

A native of Eau Claire, Wis., McCabe made his NHL debut during the 2013-14 season, playing in seven games with the Sabres after being drafted in the second round (44th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Pysyk (age 22, 6'0", 195 pounds) joins the Sabres for his third recall of the season. He has played in four games with Buffalo in 2014-15, scoring a goal in the team's game at Ottawa Dec. 29. In parts of three seasons with the Sabres, Pysyk has played in 67 games and recorded 13 points (3/10). With Rochester this season, Pysyk has appeared in 50 games and contributed 16 points (3/13).

A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, he was drafted by the Sabres in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
