Boy Scouts celebrate Scout Sunday at St. Stephen Church

Scout Sunday for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts was celebrated at the 9 a.m. Mass Feb. 8 at St. Stephen R.C. Church.

The Boy Scouts of America hold Scout Sunday to mark the founding of the Scouts in the United States. Scouts go to their places of worship in uniform and help with the service. Sandra Cohen, the religious emblems coordinator for Cub Scout Pack 630 through St. Stephen R.C. Church, reports the event celebrates Scouts and Scouting and honors Scouts who earned religious awards.

From Cub Scout Pack 630, earning the Light of Christ medal: Hayden Garey, Rocco Misuraca and Gabriel Pawelczyk. From Cub Scout Pack 630, earning the Parvuli Dei medal: Eric Bartlo, Ben Cipollitti, Perrin Huff, Raistlin Huff and Jacob Pangborn. From Boy Scout Troop 630, working towards the Ad Altare Dei Award: Nolan Miles and Joseph Juncewicz.

From Boy Scout Troop 630, working towards the Pope Pius XII Award: Ryan Wellence and Alex Melisz.

Wellence and Melisz will also receive the Bishop's Scouting Award for earning all four religious emblems.

The religious emblem programs help Scouts explore a wide range of activities and discover the presence of God in their daily lives.
