The Erie County Department of Public Works Highways' Division reports both heavily traveled routes and roads with less vehicular volume in the Town of Hamburg received significant upgrades during the 2014 construction season.

Among the completed projects was paving repair work on Sowles Road from Camp to McKinley and Bayview Road from McKinley to Route 20A. These roads, completed ahead of schedule and using 12,700 tons of asphalt in the mill and overlay process, had been the subject of numerous complaints prior to the completion of repairs.

"2014 was a busy road construction season all around Erie County, and these projects in Hamburg were two of more than 60 being conducted countywide," Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said. "These were routes that sorely needed work, like many others, and both residents and motorists appreciated these investments. Erie County's weather is hard on our roads and infrastructure, but my administration will continue working to provide the funding and resources necessary to combat nature's effects."

Elsewhere in the Town of Hamburg, mill and overlay operations were conducted on Pleasant Avenue from Amsdell Road to Route 75 and on Lake Avenue from Route 62 to McKinley, as well as on Abbott Road from Route 20A to Armor Duells Road and Willet Road from McKinley to Abbott. In addition, strip paving was conducted on Amsdell and various other roads in the town. The Poloncarz administration invested more than $60 million in Erie County's road infrastructure in 2013-14.
