March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, will present Tango Buenos Aires in "The Song of Eva Perón" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 2, in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

There will be a pre-performance tango class with instructor Travis Widrick of Argentine Tango of Buffalo for ticket holders in the center's atrium lobby (6-7:15 p.m.).

The tango has risen to become the very symbol of the city of Buenos Aires and its culture.

Touring for nearly 30 years, Tango Buenos Aires has become one of Argentina's great cultural exports, known throughout the world as an authentic and uncompromising representative of the tango. The troupe of 17 dancers and musicians will perform a new program celebrating the life of Eva Perón ("Evita"), the late first lady of Argentina who fought for women's suffrage and for improving the lives of the poor.

Tickets for Tango Buenos Aires in "The Song of Eva Perón" are available at the center box office (weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and tickets.com. To charge tickets, call 1-888-223-6000. Groups call 716-645-6771. For more information, call 716-645-2787 or visit www.ubcfa.org.
