Lewiston to offer electronics recycling drop-off day

Program limited to town, village residents

In response to a new state Department of Conservation law regarding electronics recycling, Town of Lewiston Highway Superintendent Doug Janese announced the town would hold an electronics recycling drop-off day Saturday, Jan. 17.

"Your unwanted electronics can be dropped off between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Highway Garage, which is located at 1445 Swann Road," Janese said.

This special offering is limited to those residents in the Village and Town of Lewiston. Anyone dropping off electronics that day must show a valid ID or a copy of a utility bill identifying Lewiston residency.

•Acceptable electronic items include: televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, computer mice and keyboards, cameras, cell phones, calculators, typewriters, fax machines, stereo equipment, VCRs, DVD players, small appliances (toasters, blenders or coffeemakers), lamps, hairdryers, window fans and hand-held power tools.

•Non-acceptable items include: any Freon-containing appliance such as window air conditioners, refrigerators or freezers; lead acid batteries; or any chemicals, oils or powders.
