The world's first TV talent search for an original songwriter continues

Episode two of "Do I Have A Hit Song?" - the world's first and only TV talent search focusing on songwriters performing their own original works - is set to be taped at Mavericks at the Jacksonville Landing Friday, Jan. 9. The show will be broadcast Jan. 20 at http://www.indimusic.tv.

Available on cable TV in the U.S. and to a worldwide audience online at IndiMusic.TV, this show is just different. All of the other current talent shows mostly ask, or at least encourage, participants to cover other people's songs in order for judges to be able to best find a new singing star. "Do I Have A Hit Song?" looks beneath the surface and searches for the best original songwriters.

Orlando-based songwriter Ashley Baker was the winner of episode one, and will be going on through to the next stage. Check her out at http://www.ashleybaker.net/

Episode two will have a special guest co-host, '80s hit writer Tommy Tutone of "867-5309 (Jenny)" fame. He joins the show's host and presenter, Drew Copeland, of the band Sister Hazel. Copeland had a No. 1 U.S. hit with "All for You."

Confirmed contestants for episode two include:

A global contest, artists submit their video to http://www.doihaveahitsong.com. Site visitors can watch and vote for their favorites. Artists can still submit their new songs for upcoming episodes (video or mp3 format). Voting for episode two is open until Jan. 2; voting for episode three will begin Jan. 3. Episode three will feature special guest cohost Ryan Star, who had a hit song with "Stay A While" ("Rockstar Supernova"). Visit www.rstar.net

The show gives artists a unique opportunity to publicize their music and get it distributed to the world. With more and more television viewers migrating to online services, the number of potential viewers only looks set to rise further.

Episode one cohost Eliot Sloan is founder of Blessid Union of Souls. He had hits with "I Believe" and "Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me)." He also is involved with the production of the show.

Darius Rucker (Hootie and the Blowfish), Javier Colon (winner of "The Voice" season one), Terry Nails (Ozzy Osbourne) and songwriter Edwin McCain also are contributing to the series.

What Does The Winner Receive?

At the end of the series, the winning act will see his/her submission professionally recorded and produced by the Musik and Film Production team (www.musikandfilm.com/producers and http://www.musikandfilm.com) before it's released worldwide and supported by international radio promotion, video promotion (www.musikradiopromotions.com) and full physical and digital distribution.

Additionally, the winner will have the full support of http://www.indimusic.tv - the online channel that shows the program and has more than 800,000 members in its network. That includes a "Spotlight Segment" and "Artist Feature" on the site for the full month following the end of the contest.

The winner also will receive a custom Montarado acoustic guitar (valued at $10,500), and a custom-made Toneville amplifier (valued at $2,000) - plus official endorsements from both companies.

Second- and third-place artists will have the chance to release and promote their own songs through a full PR campaign with Musik Radio Promotions. The second-place winner also will win a Montarado TimberKaster custom-made electric guitar (valued at $5,500).

In addition to the grand-prize-winners, there will be a variety of perks offered to other deserving songwriters. For instance one songwriter/artist will win an opening slot with a major touring artist of his/her genre, and publishing deals will be offered to some artists, too (at the producers' discretion).

"Do I Have A Hit Song?" is produced and created by Musik and Film. For a complete explanation of how it all works, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cx9Mb4RlI8.
