Voutour offers warning, seeks information on Niagara County burglaries

Sheriff James R. Voutour would like to make the public aware of ongoing daylight burglaries that have been occurring in the northeast and northwest areas of Niagara County. There have been 18 daylight burglaries since mid-September.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office would like to ask the public to remain observant and report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity. Individuals may first go to a home and ask for arbitrary information, such as if a person lives there or for directions.

It is important to remember that, in this day and age of technology, it is odd for someone to not know if he is at the right house or to not have access to directions. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office would ask that, if anyone encounters an individual coming to the door asking for information, presenting himself as a business person who was not solicited, or if one observes unfamiliar vehicles in a driveway or in an area for an extended period of time, please contact the Sheriff's Office immediately with description of person(s), vehicles, plate number, direction of travel, or whatever other information can be obtained. This timely reporting of information can prove to be invaluable in the investigative process.
