Food Bank asking for peanut butter and jelly donations this year

The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team will hold a "Fan Food Drive" at three home games during the month of November to benefit the Food Bank of Western New York.

Sabres fans attending the home games Nov. 18, 21 and 26 are encouraged to bring along nonperishable food items, canned goods or cash donations. This year, the Food Bank is asking specifically for jars of peanut butter and jelly if possible. Fans who donate will receive a coupon for 25 Fan Advantage Points, which can be used to redeem prizes from the store in the Sabres' new Fan Advantage smartphone application.

Items will be collected at all entrance points at First Niagara Center. All donations will be passed on to the Food Bank of Western New York.

The Sabres would like to thank WGR 550 and WGRZ Channel 2 for assisting in the promotion of the "Fan Food Drive."

The Food Bank of Western New York is a member of Feeding America, a national network of more than 200 affiliated food banks and food rescue organizations throughout all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Staffers have been serving the needs of hungry people throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties since 1979. The Food Bank's mission is to obtain nutritious food and support from public and private sources and efficiently distribute these resources to the hungry in Western New York through member agencies.
