The NWAA Wildcats defeated the TFC Redskins 35-20 in an Oct. 19 playoff game to remain undefeated at 8-0 in the NEYSA 145-pound youth football division.

Jake Dewolf led the offense with a kickoff return for a 70-yard touchdown. Tristen Vandenberg's kick was good, giving the Wildcats an 8-0 lead in the first few seconds of the game.

Following a TFC punt, NWAA marched down the field and scored on a 3-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Parks to Dewolf. Vandenberg's kick was again good, giving the Wildcats a 16-0 lead.

The TFC Redskins made a charge of their own until NWAA's Jake Leising intercepted a pass on the TFC 5 yard line and ran it back for a touchdown. However, that play was called back for a block in the back penalty, which put the Wildcats on the 50-yard line.

Dewolf would run in a 37-yard touchdown. He followed that with 4-yard touchdown following a turnover on downs by the Redskins.

TFC's Zak Braddex returned a 62-yard kickoff for the team's first touchdown of the game. The first half ended with the Wildcats up by a score of 32-6.

Vandenberg opened the second half with a 20-yard field goal, which was met by a TFC touchdown in the third quarter by John Forrester. But the NWAA Wildcats went on to keep the TFC Redskins in their backfield for the remainder of the game.

By the numbers, Dewolf led the Wildcats with 150 yards and three touchdowns. Vandenberg had one touchdown, one interception, one field goal and three extra-point kicks. Jordan Parks had 25 yards rushing and 48 yards passing. Leising rushed for 75 yards and had an interception. Ian Evans rushed for 25 yards, caught a 25-yard pass, and led the defense with eight tackles and two blocked pass attempts. Noah Mixon had seven tackles. Nick Stott had six tackles. Austin Ostekowski had five tackles along with Brandon Higgins, who also caught a 20-yard pass. Jamale Oliver had a fumble recovery.

The NWAA Wildcats played the Wilson Jr. Lakemen for the NEYSA League Championship in the Championship Bowl Sunday at LaSalle Prep Middle School.
