Niagara University professor elected vice chair of WNY Student Leadership and Engagement Consortium

Mitchell Alegre, an adjunct faculty member in Niagara University's College of Business Administration, has been named vice chair of the Western New York Student Leadership and Engagement Consortium.

The consortium is a group of higher education professionals who seek to share expertise, leverage resources, explore best practices, provide student programming, and expand the impact of their work through collaboration among the 21 member institutions of the WNY Consortium of Higher Education.

Student Leadership and Engagement Consortium members focus on developing in students an understanding and appreciation of self, others and community by inspiring students to explore a life of active citizenship.

Alegre is involved in leadership training and development at Niagara University through his roles as coordinator of special projects for the Office of Campus Activities and as an adjunct management professor in the College of Business Administration. He is also adviser to the interdisciplinary minor in leadership.

Alegre owns a bachelor's degree from Hobart College and a master's degree from SUNY Geneseo.
