Series from "Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix and Fox Television Studios to air in 2015

USA Network has announced the start of production on its new high-octane original drama, "Complications," which began shooting this week in Atlanta. The 10-episode original series from executive producer and "Burn Notice" creator Matt Nix stars Jason O'Mara ("Terra Nova," "Vegas") and is set to premiere in 2015.

" 'Complications' is a story about the making of a hero - how an ordinary doctor's split-second decision changes the course of his life and the lives of everyone around him," Nix said. "It's tremendous to be working with USA again and with such a talented cast. The writers' room is going strong, and I cannot wait for audiences to see this new series."

The gritty drama centers around John Ellison (O'Mara), a disillusioned suburban ER doctor who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy's life and killing one of his attackers. When Ellison learns the boy is the son of an influential gang leader and is still a target, he is compelled to save him at any cost. Ellison soon discovers that his own life - and his outlook on medicine - may never be the same.

"Complications" also stars Jessica Szohr ("Gossip Girl") as Gretchen, a reckless but capable ER nurse; Beth Riesgraf ("Leverage") as John's wife, Samantha; and Lauren Stamile ("Burn Notice") as John's by-the-book coworker, Dr. Bridget O'Neil, who finds herself dealing with the aftermath of his actions.
