Wilson's Sunset Grill has teamed up with local entertainment coordinator Steve Goodman to present the second annual "Super Jam" concert on Sunday, Aug. 31. The free event begins at 3 p.m. at 3 O'Connell Island.

Goodman said each artist was handpicked and invited to perform. The headline act is Chicago Blues Connection featuring Jay Moynihan, Ray Barry, Paul Yates and Shannon Street. Guest performers include the Thurman Brothers, Jim Wynne, Jamie Holka, Dave Miller, Chuck DeRose, Ron LoCurto, Jim Bohm, Michael DiSanto, Melissa Barry, Tony Petrocelli, Stevie Fleck, Tom Scime, Barry Arbogast, Jack McArdle, Keith McDougal, Tom Ryan, Eric Crittenden, Maria Aurigema and Paul Reed Smith Guitars artists Jon Dretto and Hayden Fogle.

"We're doing it in a bigger way this year," Goodman said. "These guys are the real deal."

Moynihan used to live in Chicago, and performed with the legendary Buddy Guy.

In addition to a full day of music, "Super Jam" offers a guitar raffle and 50/50 split. Goodman coordinated the event with Ray Berry's assistance, and will utilize professional sound equipment courtesy of Petrocelli and Lewiston Music.

The event's sponsors include Wilson Boat House/Sunset Grill owner Shelly Elia Evans, and Karen and Michael Elia.

About 400 people attended the first "Super Jam" last year. Goodman said next year's Labor Day weekend concert will expand to two days and, hopefully, include the presentation of a scholarship or two for a high school student or students attending college and studying music.
