Organizers of the Niagara County Peach Queen program are encouraging potential contestants to turn in their application to participate in the program, taking place during the Niagara County Peach Festival Sept. 5-7.

Any young woman between the ages of 17 and 21 living in Niagara County is eligible to participate. Applications are available at www.lewistonkiwanis.org or at the following retail locations: Angel to Apple Clothing & Shoe Boutique (Lewiston), First Niagara Bank (Lewiston), Chéri Amour (Lewiston), Sassy Consignment (Sanborn), Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce (Lewiston) and Melloni's Market Place (Youngstown).

The evening on-stage portion of the pageant is scheduled to take place during the Peach Festival on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, at Academy Park in the Village of Lewiston. Contestants in the event will participate in a private interview with the judges prior to the on-stage portion.

The program is designed for contestants to develop interview and public speaking skills, while encouraging community service. Contestants will have an opportunity to participate in events from mid-July through September.

The Niagara County Peach Queen program has been a part of the Peach Festival since 1958. Last year's winner, Ali Casale of Niagara Falls, is a student at Niagara University. She was the recipient of a $2,500 scholarship.

The Peach Queen promotes the festival and participates in community service projects alongside the Lewiston Kiwanis and other organizations during her reign. She is also accompanied by the Peach Blossom and Peach Fuzz throughout her year of service.

Interested candidates can obtain more information at the Lewiston Kiwanis website at www.LewistonKiwanis.org or by contacting Jennifer Pauly at 716-754-9500.
