NCIDA to consider three applications for assistance at June board meeting

Board to review applications for Praxair and two flagship hotels in Niagara Falls

The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency board of directors will consider three applications for assistance at its board meeting Wednesday, June 11, at 9 a.m.

Praxair Inc., the leading supplier of liquid hydrogen in the U.S., is proposing to make more than a $12 million investment for construction, site work and new equipment at its Niagara Falls facility at 4501 Royal Ave. It plans to install a hydrogen-producing steam methane reformer.

If approved, the project is expected to retain 89 jobs and create eight new jobs.

Niagara Lodging Inc. also has submitted an application for assistance to demolish the former Sunrise Inn building at 6335 Niagara Falls Blvd., in the City of Niagara Falls, in order to build a LaQuinta Inn. The company is proposing to invest approximately $4.5 million for construction, site work and new equipment.

The project is expected to create 12 new jobs.

Lastly, the board will consider an application from Niagara Falls Hospitality Inc. (Microtel) to purchase and demolish the former Captain's Cove restaurant at 7726 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls. The company is proposing to invest approximately $2.980 million for construction, site work and new equipment.

The project is expected to create 11 new jobs.

The applications for assistance include requests for property and sales tax abatements as well as a payment in lieu of taxes.
