Dr. Venkat Kolli appointed full-time chief of surgery at Memorial

Venkat R. Kolli, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been appointed full-time chief of surgery at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center effective July 1. His appointment was announced by Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Vijay Bojedla, M.D.

An attending surgeon at Niagara Falls Memorial since 1999, Kolli has served as Memorial's chief of surgery since 2009. In his new full-time role, he will oversee the continued growth of Memorial's expanding specialty surgical offerings and its roster of fellowship-trained, board-certified surgical specialists. In addition, he will be relocating his medical office to the Summit Healthplex in Wheatfield while also establishing office hours at Memorial's satellite site at 624 River Road, North Tonawanda.

Kolli received his MBBS degree from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Pondicherry, India. He attended The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University at Harlem Hospital in New York City for his residency training in general surgery before attending Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, completing two fellowships in head and neck surgical oncology. He also has advanced training and extensive experience in surgery of the breast and in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgical procedures, including single site robotic gallbladder removal.

Kolli is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and a candidate member of the American Head and Neck Society.
