Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island the Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to from May 6 to 16.

Tuesday, May 6

•Whitehaven Road, larceny - The manager of a gas station stated that a former employee of the business stole thousands of dollars over the past few months. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Sheree Drive, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime during recent days, someone stole a handgun from his unlocked vehicle. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Huth Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Stony Point Road, marijuana possession - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 24-year-old man from Grand Island for unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation) and several traffic infractions. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

Thursday, May 8

•Baseline Road, marijuana possession - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 20-year-old man from Grand Island for unlawful possession of marijuana (a violation) and several traffic infractions. The man was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Grand Island Court.

•Love Road, warrant arrest - Following a traffic stop, deputies arrested a 41-year-old woman from Grand Island after a check showed she had an outstanding bench warrant from the Town of Grand Island Court. The woman was transported to the Erie County Holding Center.

•Laurie Lane, larceny - A complainant stated that someone was making fraudulent purchases using his credit card. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Friday, May 9

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - Deputies located a female subject sitting inside the traffic circle during the late hours of the night. The female was advised and left without incident.

•Whitehaven Road, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call. Deputies spoke with the occupants and determined the call to be a misdial.

•North Colony Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone knocked over his mailbox. No damage was observed to the mailbox.

•Alvin Road, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle - The manager of a business stated that, sometime in recent years, someone stole a vehicle from the sales lot.

•Center Terrace, welfare check - Deputies responded to a report of a 911 hang-up call. Deputies spoke with the occupants and determined the call to be a misdial.

•South State Parkway motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Ransom Road, property-damage-only accident - Deputies responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

•Continental Lane, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent nights, someone stole various items from his unlocked vehicle.

•First Street, larceny - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent days, someone stole the license plate off her vehicle.

•West Niagara River, suspicious incident - Deputies located an unmanned kayak in the river. The Coast Guard was notified.

Saturday, May 10

•Baseline Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated a vehicle was driving all over the roadway. Deputies found the vehicle in a nearby apartment complex but were unable to locate the driver.

•Grand Island Boulevard, criminal mischief - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone slashed his tires.

•North Colony Road, neighbor dispute - A complainant stated a neighbor was on his property trimming a tree without permission. All parties were advised.

•Whitehaven Road, shots fired - A complainant stated that a nearby neighbor was shooting a gun in his own yard. The subject was advised.

•First Street, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a youth from the neighborhood was speeding up and down the street on a mini-bike. Deputies located the youth and advised him.

Sunday, May 11

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that several male subjects were at a seemingly closed business loading numerous motorcycles during the early morning hours. Deputies located the subjects, who were the owners of the business.

•Love Road, loud music - A complainant stated that a neighbor was playing his music very loudly during mid-afternoon hours. Deputies advised the subject.

•Marjorie Drive, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime during the night, someone egged his vehicle. No damage was reported.

•Ransom Road, residential burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime during the day, someone entered her unlocked apartment and stole various items from inside. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Stony Point Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that, sometime during the day, someone cut down several limbs of a tree on his property.

Monday, May 12

•Love Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that a naked male subject was sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot. Deputies checked the area and determined the complaint to be unfounded.

•Whitehaven Road, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that he found a bottle of prescription pills outside of a business. Deputies took custody of the pills and destroyed them.

•Grand Island Boulevard, burglary - Employees of a business stated that, sometime during the night, someone used a code to deactivate the alarm after entering the building and while inside stole an undetermined amount of money. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

•Grand Island Boulevard, wires down - Deputies responded to a report of wires down in a parking lot of a business.

•Jamestown Road, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

•Whitetail Run, suspicious incident - A complainant stated that she paid for an item on eBay and never received it. The complainant was advised to contact eBay to report the possible fraud.

•Forest Creek Lane, youth activity - A complainant stated several youths were operating a golf cart in the street. Deputies located the youths and advised them.

Tuesday, May 13

•Fix Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a motorcycle was racing down the street, and that the issue was an ongoing problem. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Wednesday, May 14

•Windham Lane, animal complaint - A complainant stated that a neighbor's dog jumped through her screen window. The dog control officer was notified.

•Oak Harbor Road, alarm ringing/open door - Deputies responded to a report of a burglary alarm and upon arrival they found an open door to the residence. Deputies searched the house but found no persons inside.

•Love Road, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a green-colored Camaro cut her off and was speeding down the street. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle by the description given.

•Grand Island Boulevard, reckless operation - A complainant stated that a motorcycle was speeding and swerving all over the roadway. Deputies located the motorcycle nearby and advised the driver.

•Stony Point Road, residential burglary - A complainant stated that, sometime in recent hours, someone kicked in her garage door, which caused the alarm to activate. Deputies determined that no entry to the residence was made.

•Grand Island Boulevard, motorist broke down - Deputies assisted a motorist whose vehicle had become disabled.

Thursday, May 15

Whitehaven Road, property found - A complainant found a set of keys and turned them into deputies at the Grand Island Substation. The owner was contacted and the keys were returned.

Friday, May 16

•Deerwood Lane, suspicious person with vehicle - A complainant stated that a suspicious vehicle was parked in front of his residence. Deputies located the vehicle and determined the subjects inside were on location looking to buy a nearby house.

•Grand Island Boulevard, suspicious person - Employees of a restaurant stated that an intoxicated male subject came into the business looking for an unknown female. The male subject left in an unknown direction prior to the arrival of patrol. Deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the subject by the description given.
