The Buffalo Audubon Society is launching an online contest that will allow supporters to vote on a locally inspired species of bird to feature in its new identity logo.

"Our logo is a symbol of the diverse work that we do, and we hope that individuals from across our region will help us identify the bird that represents us, and the area," said Loren Smith, executive director.

Through Friday, May 30, visitors to the website www.buffaloaudubon.org will be greeted with an online poll where they can vote for one of five birds with geographical ties to Western New York: green heron, Bonaparte's gul, peregrine falcon, great crested flycatcher or wood duck.
