In celebration of Father's Day and National Men's Health Month, the board of associates of Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center is sponsoring the annual "A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life" free Prostate Cancer Screening June 9-14.

The free PSA screening will be held from Monday through Friday, from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to noon, in the outpatient center in the north lobby of the hospital at 5300 Military Road, Lewiston. The outpatient center can be conveniently reached through the north entrance driveway off Military Road.

"This is a great opportunity for men to have a screening that can make a difference in their lives," said Richard Faiola, vice president of Shipman Print Solutions and founder/chairman of the annual Father's Day PSA screening program. "The PSA blood test is simple and it often indicates a potential problem before any symptoms appear. We are proud to be able to sponsor this program and hope that everyone will encourage their loved ones to participate in 'A Father's Day Gift of Love and Life.' "

Last year, more than 300 men were screened. Screening is recommended for men over the age of 40, especially those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Pre-registration for the free screening in not necessary. This is not a fasting test. Results will be forwarded to each participant's personal physician.

Free gift certificates are available for presentation to loved ones by calling 716-298-2145. Gift certificates are not required to have a screening.
