The drama club of Stella Niagara Education Park will present "Godspell, Jr." on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Under the direction of seventh-grade teacher and drama club adviser Margaret Feuerman, and musical direction by music teacher Tim Aikin, fourth- through eighth-grade students will present the shortened version of the popular musical.

Stella Niagara's production will employ a gender-neutral cast. Katrina Copeland will portray Jesus Christ, while Brinna Desai plays John the Baptist and Ciara McGrane plays Judas.

Largely based on the Gospel of Matthew, "Godspell" premiered off-Broadway in 1971. Music was composed by Stephen Schwartz and the book was written by John-Michael Tebelak. The one-act, junior version was later developed to allow younger students to perform the play.

Stella Niagara will host faculty and students from St. Peter R.C. School in Lewiston for a performance the morning of Friday, May 16.
