Special presentation at Alzheimer's Association

If someone you love is showing signs of memory loss, or if they've recently been diagnosed with some form of dementia, the Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is offering a program that may answer some likely questions.

Dr. Jessica Englert is a clinical neuropsychologist who provides assessments for adults and children with neurological conditions, memory disorders, medical illnesses that affect cognition, pre-surgical evaluation, psychiatric illness, learning disorders, and ADHD. Her presentation, "Getting a Diagnosis," will focus on the process of testing for Alzheimer's and other forms of cognitive impairment. The program is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 15 at the WNY chapter office, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville.

"Early detection is important for many reasons, including the opportunity to rule out other conditions that mimic Alzheimer's disease, and to receive appropriate treatment early on when it tends to be most effective," says Chapter Education Director Meghan Fadel. "Getting a diagnosis also allows families time to plan for the future and develop a care team, and to provide yourself and your family the opportunity to be involved in ongoing research to find more effective treatments."
