Residents can properly dispose of unused and obsolete electronic devices at no cost to taxpayers

State Sen. Mark Grisanti has announced he will join Orchard Park Town Supervisor Patrick Keem and Time Warner Cable in hosting a free electronics recycling event Saturday, April 19, in the Town of Orchard Park. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Orchard Park Senior High School, located at 4040 Baker Road.

The electronics-recycling drop off will offer professional disposal of unused and obsolete items to help ensure they do not end up harming the environment. Computer monitors, printers, fax machines, home telephones, televisions, video game consoles, laptop computers, scanners, cellular telephones and MP3 players are among the items that will be collected and properly disposed.

"We all must do our part to lighten the impact on our environment," said Grisanti, who also serves as chairman of the State Senate's Environmental Conservation Committee. "By recycling these items, we are responsibly and safely making a difference. I encourage Orchard Park residents, as well my constituents from nearby towns such as Hamburg, Evans and Brant, to fill up their vehicles and bring their old electronics to this free event."

"As a father of four and the grandfather of six grandchildren, I am very concerned about protecting our environment for future generations," Keem said. "This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to get rid of their e-waste in a responsible, environmentally friendly way. My sincere thanks go out to Sen. Grisanti who has worked diligently to make this event possible."

"We are happy to partner with Sen. Grisanti again to offer the Western New York community a place to safely dispose of unwanted electronics," said Terence Rafferty, regional vice president of operations for Time Warner Cable.

Grisanti has previously held successful electronics-recycling events in the Town of Tonawanda, Town of Grand Island and Town of Hamburg.

"Working with our friends From Sunnking, we have collected literally hundreds of thousands of pounds of electronics at our previous drop-off events, and I expect a similar turnout later this month in Orchard Park," Grisanti said. "I hope the residents take advantage of this free opportunity to clean out their homes and dispose of their old electronics safely."
