Town of Niagara Police Blotter for April 10, 2014

The following is a sampling of calls received by the Town of Niagara Police between March 28-31.

Friday, March 28

•Speeding, Packard Road, Porter Road and Witmer Road. Patrol issued tickets to one driver going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, a driver going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, and a driver traveling 60 mph in a 45 mph zone respectively.

•False alarm, 7500 block of Greenview Road. Patrols responded to a panic alarm. On arrival, residents were on location.

Saturday, March 29

•Rollover accident, 7000 block of Packard Road. Two passengers were ejected from vehicle in a one-car rollover accident. Both deceased. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the turn.

•EMS, B Street. Cayuga Village. Patrol assisted Rural Metro Ambulance with a party that needed help getting out of bed.

•Check situation, 1900 block of Military Road. Two parties arguing over a parking spot.

Sunday, March 30

•Suspicious person, Bellreng Drive. Patrol checked on a suspicious vehicle that had been sitting in one spot for more than an hour. Man inside said he was waiting for three female friends to come out. While being interviewed, the three women did come out to the car.

•DWI, Hyde Park Boulevard and Witmer Road. A 35-year-old North Tonawanda man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he was stopped by patrol for driving with no working taillights. After failing sobriety tests, the driver attempted to flee on foot, but was recaptured with the assistance of Niagara Falls and Lewiston police.

•DWI, 2900 block of Birch Avenue. A 46-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated after patrol responded to a hit and run accident involving a parked vehicle. A witness description of the vehicle that had been driving too fast for snow and ice conditions enabled patrol to find the striking vehicle. The suspect failed field sobriety tests.

Monday, March 31

•Larceny from vehicle, 3200 block of Miller Road and at the 3100 block of Apple Court. In the first incident, the victim stated someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole about $2 in loose change. In the second incident, the victim reported someone took about $3 in change from his unlocked vehicle parked in his driveway.

•Aid assist, 3000 block of Rhode Island Avenue. Patrol assisted State Police with an arrest stemming from a domestic dispute.

•Traffic tickets, Lockport Road and at Military and Witmer roads. Patrol stopped a driver for traveling 57 mph in a 45 mph zone. She was found to have a suspended license dating back to November for parking tickets. She told patrol that "I think we had a talk before about the suspension, but I thought I took care of it." In the second incident, the driver's registration was expired as of Feb. 1 and did not have insurance. The driver told patrol, "Yes, I know. I'm gonna register it this payday."
