County and state officials will honor former Royalton Supervisor Dick Lang tonight, taking note of a lengthy public service career that spanned 34 years, as well as more than three decades spent as a wrestling coach.

Lang, who also authored a book about his long career as a Department of Environmental Conservation officer titled "Behind the Badge: My Life as a Game Warden," will be honored for his impact on the Eastern Niagara County community - where his passion for coaching wrestling resulted in a two-decade run as wrestling coach at Newfane High School and a decade at Roy-Hart.

It was in this role that Lang even produced an Olympian in wrestler Lou Roselli, who competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games, and went on to win the 1997 World Cup.

The Niagara County Legislature will also take the step of declaring today "Dick Lang Day" in Niagara County.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Niagara County Legislature Chambers, Niagara County Courthouse, 175 Hawley St., Lockport.
