Barbara Malinowski of Mount St. Mary's Hospital receives Community Leadership Award

Barbara Malinowski, coordinator of the parish nurse program at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, was recently recognized by the National Federation for Just Communities with a Community Leadership Award for Healthcare. 

The parish coordinator at Mount St. Mary's since 2001, Malinowski is responsible for assisting congregations in establishing parish nurse programs by providing resources, education and guidance. In addition, she coordinates health ministry activities at the Heart, Love and Soul Food Pantry in the City of Niagara Falls.

Previously, Malinowski served as the CEO of Westfield Memorial Hospital in Westfield (1989-99). In prior years, she held several leadership positions in the health care industry in Western New York. 

Malinowski earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Niagara University, and Master of Science degree in nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Over the years, Malinowski has shared her time, talent, skills and expertise to support many organizations in the community. She is a member of the Niagara University Nursing Advisory Committee and Alumni Council. She is also a member of the university's alumni association board of directors and executive committee. Malinowski is a past president of the Western New York Healthcare Association and a member of the board of the Health Association of Niagara County. She has participated in medical missions to Chiapas, Mexico, with other health care professionals, and is a member of the parish council of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Lewiston.

Malinowski and her husband, Robert, reside in Lewiston.
