YMCA exceeds campaign goal, raising $697,741

YMCA staff and volunteers were feeling the luck of the Irish as they celebrated exceeding their annual campaign goal of $677,000 by raising $697,741 for YMCA financial assistance. The association, comprised of eight branches, YMCA Camp Weona and the YMCA Association Office, kicked off the campaign in January, with eight weeks to reach the goal.

Earlier this week, awards were presented to the following branches at the YMCA's victory dinner, which was held at Pearl Street Grill:

•The George M. Standish Award, presented to the branch that exceeds its goal by the highest percentage, was given to the Lockport YMCA. It was 118.7 percent its their goal of $60,000, raising $71,232.

•The Alfred F. Whitford Award, presented to the branch with the greatest growth in pledged dollars, was given to the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA. It achieved $19,294 growth over 2013.

•The President's Cup Award, presented to the branch that secures the highest percentage of renewal value based on 2013 victory report, was given to the Niagara Falls Family Branch. It had 74 percent of renewed 2013 pledges.

  • William-Emslie: $48,261
  • Ken-Ton: $50,125
  • Independent Health Family Branch YMCA: $102,000
  • Southtowns: $97,446
  • Camp Weona: $68,210
  • Lancaster: $46,018
  • Niagara Falls: $50,182
  • Lockport: $71,232
  • YMCA Board of Directors: $123,387

Last Year, YMCA Buffalo Niagara raised more than $650,000 and gave out more than $890,000 in financial assistance thanks to the annual campaign. One in every four campers and one in every four school-age child care participants along with 500-plus families and adults benefit from YMCA programs and services thanks to the generosity of those who contribute to the annual campaign.
